The Hawker Sea Fury was a fighter aircraft developed by Hawker for the Royal Navy during World War II. The Sea Fury was primarily designed as an aircraft carrier based fighter and has a reputation of being one of the fastest single piston engine aircraft ever built. Whilst the Sea Fury arrived too late for effective use during WW2, it did serve admirably during the Korean War. On August 9, 1952, Lieutenant Peter "Hoagy" Carmichael of the Royal Navy was directly involved in arguably the most infamous event the of Hawker Sea Fury’s history. Lieutenant "Hoagy" engaged and destroyed a MiG-15 jet fighter in aerial combat. This was one of very few piston-engine powered fighters to successfully engage a turbine-powered adversary.
E-flite has produced the Hawker Sea Fury 400 ARF (Almost Ready to Fly) as an EPS injection-moulded foam model resulting in a lightweight, durable and easily repairable construction. The scale detail includes accurately moulded panel lines, factory painted cockpit, pilot and optional under-wing rockets and the choice of either fixed or retractable landing gear (additional servos maybe required).
The Sea Fury (Almost Ready to Fly) has an elliptical shaped wing and features pre-installed spars, hinges and control horns and offers light, gentle and smooth flight characteristics. The bolt-on wing is easily removed for transport and access to some of the on-board electronics, the others being easily accessible through the magnetic battery hatch. The Sea Fury has a factory installed stick motor mount and can be powered with either E-flite's 400 or 480 outrunner brushless motors coupled with a 3-cell 11.1V 1800-2200mah Li-Po battery pack. The model has excellent scale performance and flight duration.
