The Crash: An eyewitness account by defendant Pilot Officer Stephen Turnock:

"After a few laps of the field the wind started to pick up so I thought it'd be best to land before I had a wind induced crash. Unfortunately, I failed to notice the height of the plane and crashed into a wire fence on landing! (I'd like to blame the fact that the field had a slope on it, but it was my own fault!) It was like the plane had been put through a cheese grater, there were bits of foam blowing everywhere in the wind. The force of the impact even managed to disconnect the battery!"
